CLUB NEWS

2021 DUES

2021 dues invoices were sent out in September. Dues are due and payable by December 31, 2020. Payments in arrears as of January 1, 2021 will result in the deactivation of your access card. Members who have not paid by January 31, 2021 will be removed from the membership rolls and will need to reapply for membership. This includes paying the $175 assessment again along with going through the membership process from the start. If you have not received an invoice for 2021 or have lost your invoice, please go to the "MEMBERSHIP" page where there is a link to the lost invoice form. Please fill it out and return it with your payment. If your card has been deactivated, you can bring your payment to the clubhouse and drop it off by placing it in the mailbox at the front door. Thank you to all of our members for your support.

The annual business meeting will be held October 4, 2020, 10am at the clubhouse. This is our yearly meeting where the club officers for the next year are elected. This year there are 12 members running for the 8 executive board positions. Ballots will be handed out and counted at the meeting. These people decide the direction of the club for the next year. We encourage all of our members to attend this important meeting.

We just want to remind our members that both the indoor and outdoor ranges are open for use. The ranges are open to members only. Guests are not allowed at this time. Please abide by all of the state COVID recommendations for social distancing and mask use.

The club and ranges are scheduled to reopen May 26th. Please check back soon for more information about how the reopening will work and what restrictions will be in place. Thank you to all of our members for your patience and continued support.

Just a reminder to everyone that the clubhouse, indoor and outdoor ranges are still closed. We anticipate that they will remain this way until all of the COVID restrictions are lifted. Hopefully, that will occur sometime in May. Watch the website and Facebook page for information.

The club business meeting regularly scheduled for April 5th is cancelled. Please stay safe and watch this site and our Facebook page for further announcements.

Due to the Governor's order today with respect to the COVID-19 epidemic, the club is closed and all activities cancelled. This order is expected to last until at least April 7th. This closure applies to both indoor and outdoor facilities. Watch this web page and our Facebook page for further announcements. Stay healthy and we'll see you on the range in a couple of weeks.

Looking For Volunteers To Run For E Board

We anticipate that several of our Executive Board members will not be running for reelection for the next election cycle which begins October, 2020. The board is comprised of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and eight voting board members. The E Board meets the Wednesday before the monthly business meeting and is responsible for everything related to the operation of the club. All planning and expenditures go through the E Board. The members of the board are elected by the general club membership at the October annual meeting. The term for all of the offices is 1 year. These positions are vital to the ability of our club to exist for the enjoyment of the members and their families. If you think that you might like to get involved and be nominated for consideration, please contact President Eric Dewhirst, , for more information about the process.

EEE Threat Raised To High

The Mass. Department of Public Health has raised the EEE threat to "high" for our area. Eastern equine encephalitis is a potently deadly disease spread to humans by mosquitoes. Please remember to use a good quality insect repellant when out of doors. Our outdoor range facilities are surrounded by wetlands where mosquitoes breed so it is especially important to use insect repellant, long sleeves and pants when shooting. More information about EEE and how to prevent it is available on the DPH website at:

Steel Plate Shoots To Resume

Steel plate shoots will resume at the outdoor range facility on May 18, 2019. Shoots start at 10am and will be held every third Sunday of the month. These are man on man shoots consisting of 5 plates and a stop plate and is open to all center fire handguns.

The club will be sponsoring a chapter of  "The Well Armed Woman Shooting Chapters". This is a national group whose mission is to "educate, equip and empower women" in all things shooting. There will be a meet and greet at the clubhouse on April 8, 2019 at 6:00pm. Kerrie Ann Auclair and several other members of the organization will be on hand to answer any questions and to introduce new potential members to what the organization has to offer. If you are a woman shooter and gun owner, this is a great opportunity to meet other women who share your interest. If you would like to know more, they can be contacted at:  The group maintains a web site at:  You can find them on Facebook at: The-Well-Armed-Women-Bristol-County-Ma. This is a great opportunity for women shooters in our area. Come down and check it out.

Indoor Range Closed  1/21/19

The range will be closed Monday, January 21, 2019 from 7am to 5pm so that a contractor can replace the plywood over the ceiling baffle system. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this necessary maintenance.

2019 Dues

We just want to remind everyone that 2019 dues are payable by December 31, 2018. Dues not returned by that date will result in the deactivation of your key card. If for some reason your dues payment is late and your card has been deactivated, you may leave your payment at the club by dropping it in the mail slot prior to January 31. Dues not paid by January 31, 2019 will result in the termination of your membership. This means that in order to belong to the club, you will have to reapply as if you were never a member including the cost of the initiation fee. If you need to take leave of absence from the club, you must contact the E board and your request will be considered. Thank you to everyone who has renewed their membership and on behalf of the Executive Board, have a great New Year!

Due to the holiday season, our new member orientation scheduled for December 23 will be held on Sunday, December 16.

With that in mind, we will be running our early bird raffle again this year. Members who make their dues payment anytime up to or before the November 4th business meeting will be entered into the raffle. This year's prizes are 2, Henry 30-30 rifles, an Orca (Not Yeti!) cooler and lot of other shooting accessories and outdoor equipment. Mass. Primary Elections, Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018

The only thing more satisfying than exercising our second amendment rights is exercising our right to vote. Just as the second amendment is one of the protections that insure our freedom to vote, the people who we elect can affect that right. Now more than ever our right to keep and bear arms is under attack. It is up to you as a freedom loving American to educate yourself about the candidate's positions on your rights and to make your position known by casting a vote. Please take the time tomorrow to go to the polls and vote.

All invoices for 2018 dues have been mailed. You should be receiving yours shortly. If you are a member and you don't receive a renewal notice within the next week or so, please contact us right away. Please remember that your membership will lapse and your key card will be deactivated if we do not receive your payment by December 31. There is also a $25 late fee assessed for dues paid after December 31 and members in arrears after January 31 will be removed from the membership roster and will need to reapply as a new member. The E board would also like to say "thank you" for your support through the 2017 season and we are looking forward to continuing to provide our members with a great place to shoot! See you on the range!

Thank You!

President Dewhirst would like to publicly say "thank you" to everyone who showed up Thursday to help with getting out the 2018 invoices. With their help, we were able to get them in the mail a week earlier than we usually do. The President would also like to recognize the Junior Rifle Team parents who helped out with this task. Good job everyone!

We are in the process of assembling 2018 invoices for mailing. That means that we have to fold, stuff into envelopes and attach postage to over 3300 pieces of mail. We will be starting this task at the clubhouse on Thursday, 9/14/17 at 10am. Anyone who can stop by and help out, even if it's only for an hour, will be welcome. If you are around and have some free time, come down and help us with this important task. We're buying the coffee!

2018 Dues

We will soon be sending invoices for 2018 dues. Please try to remit your payment as soon as possible so that we can begin to plan for the upcoming year. As an incentive to early payers, those of you who remit by the November 5th business meeting will be entered into a drawing where we will be giving away guns, knives and cash gift cards. Payments not received by December 31, 2017 will be assessed a $25 late fee. Thank you to everyone who has supported us through the past year. The e board looks forward to continuing to provide you with a great place to enjoy your sport.

With the good weather, the outdoor range is beginning to get busy. Please be considerate of your fellow members. When done shooting, clear your position promptly so that waiting shooters can use it. Remember that the wide 100 yard range is for 100 yard use only. If you wish to shoot at less than 100 yards, please use the narrow 100 yard range or one of the 50 yard ranges. If you are unsure about the operation of the outdoor range, please review the range regulations and obey any and all posted rules at the range. And remember, ALWAYS, ALWAYS observe ALL safety rules when using the club facilities.

Due to repeated violations of our outdoor range starting times, we have programmed the gate not to open before 9am Monday thru Saturday and 10am on Sunday. Your card will not work before those times. For Sunday trap, you will not be able to access the range until after 10am. Please observe the sunset closing time. Sunset time is posted at the gate as you enter the range. This is an important rule for maintaining a good relationship with our neighbors and violation will result in disciplinary action by the Executive Board.

All of the remaining safety classes scheduled for 2017 have been cancelled until further notice. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We will post here and on Facebook when class is resumed.

The spring cleaning party for the outdoor range has been scheduled for Saturday, April 8 at 9am. Anyone who wants to join us is welcome. Grab your work gloves and boots and come down and help us get your range in shape for the good weather shooting season.

ELECTION DAY, Tuesday, Nov. 8

Remember to vote this Tuesday, November 8th. The next president, through their Supreme Court appointments, will determine the course of our constitutional rights for a generation. Never in modern history has a presidential election had a greater impact on our second amendment rights (not to mention the rest of the constitution!). There are also many local elections that will determine your ability to exercise your rights on a state level. If you like your right to own a gun and still unsure of your candidates position on protecting your rights, then go to the GOAL and NRA sites and check out where they stand. Most importantly, GET OUT TUESDAY AND VOTE! Make sure your pro second amendment friends and family also vote. Your very right to keep and bear arms depends on it!

Give Blood, November 30, 2016

We will be holding a Blood Drive at our club house on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 11am to 4pm. Reservations are not necessary but if you want to avoid lines, feel free to call the club and schedule a time.

Save a life, give blood!

Outdoor Range Targets

Those of you using the outdoor ranges, please refer to the Range Rules for guidance in selecting targets. Recently we have come across items on the range which have been used as targets that are prohibited by the rules. If you are unsure about if an item may be used as a target, don't use it until you have checked with a range officer. Use of unapproved targets by you or any of your guests could result in your suspension or expulsion from the club.

All piano tuners will have 6 plates and please, NO NEW YORK RELOADS!!

Work Party, April 9, 2016

We will be holding a work party at the outdoor range on Saturday, April 9 at 9am at the outdoor range facility. This is our annual spring clean up and we can use any help we can get from our membership. This is a great opportunity to help us get your ranges ready for the good weather and to meet some of your fellow members. Unfortunately, this task requires that we close down the outdoor range for the day. We will try to keep the interruption to a minimum.

The outdoor ranges will be closed Friday, Feb. 26 and Monday, Feb. 28 until at least 3pm due to survey crew work that will be taking place. We're sorry for the short notice and any inconvenience. The ranges will be open as usual for weekend use.

RFID Blocking Wallets And Your Club Access Card

Some new wallets are now constructed so as to protect magnetic strips and RFID chips from outside magnetic waves. It is common practice among our members who keep their key cards in a wallet to wave the entire wallet with the card inside in front of the key receiver to gain access to the club house or the outdoor ranges. If you happen to have one of these types of wallet or have the key card covered by some other type of protective material, the card reader will have difficulty reading the card and you may not be admitted. In this case, try removing the card and using it without any covering (or check to see if you remembered to pay your dues!). If you continue to have trouble with access, please contact us.

2016 Safety Course Dates Posted

We have posted the dates for our safety course through 2016. The course is held the first Sunday of every month starting at 11:00am except for the month of July. To view the dates, go to the "SAFETY COURSE" page.

Outstanding Dues Reminder

This is a reminder that as of 12/31/15, all unpaid members will be in arrears and your card will be deactivated. To avoid any interruption in your membership, please insure that we receive your payment by December 31. If you have not received an invoice or have lost your invoice, go to the "Membership" page on the web site. At the bottom of the page you will see a link to a "Lost Invoice Form". Print out a form and send it with your 2016 dues payment. If you have questions about your membership, please contact us as soon as possible. Remember that it is your dues that support the club and allow us to provide a great range for you to enjoy. The E Board would like to express our thanks to all of our members for making 2015 a great year for the club!

Just to remind everyone, the outdoor ranges close at sunset. That means that you should not be shooting after sunset. Sunset times are posted at the gate as you enter the ranges. The outdoor ranges open at 9am Monday through Saturday and 10 am on Sunday. You should not be shooting before those times. It is VERY important that EVERYONE obeys this rule. If you are unsure what time it is or weather or not the range is open, DON'T SHOOT. It's that simple. Members who can not follow this rule will face disciplinary action by the E Board.

Leo Dennen (1927-1998) was a long time club member who participated and assisted with just about every club activity during his long membership. He was the epitome of what it means to be a member of the club and a great friend to all of us.

Entry fee is $5. First place wins $15 and second place takes $5. Squads will be made up of 8 shooters shooting at 5 steel plates at a distance of 30 feet. The last plate will be the "stop" plate and shooting it out of order will result in the DSQ of the shooter. Center fire guns only, revolvers or autos, with jacketed or lead bullets. Shooters will only load 6 rounds and starting position will be the "low ready". Guns may be carried in a holster but drawing from the holster will not be allowed. April 25 Work Party

Last weekends outdoor range work party was a great success. With all of the volunteers who helped we were able to accomplish lots of spring clean up tasks to get the ranges in shape for the upcoming shooting season. Member turn out was great and it was nice to see some new faces. To everyone who came down to help, the Executive Board would like to extend a big THANK YOU!

Please watch our web site and Facebook page for announcements about upcoming work parties and consider spending some time helping us keep the club the great shooting facility it has become.
